About me

Anime. Cosplay. Conventions. If someone told me when I was walking around high school I would be doing this kind of stuff, I would have told them they were crazy. But then again, my life has always been crazy.

I was born and raised in Chicago, South Side (home to the now famous Kanye West). And I'm an unabashed Cubs fan. I moved out to the suburbs to where I now reside. I went to Northern Illinois University and recieved an Electrical Engineering Degree. I was always interested in technology, being exposed to it early by my father, who is a Systems Administrator / Database Analyst. I was also the nerdy kid in school, which lead to getting beat up in grade school, low self esteem problems, the works. I was always shy, quiet and contemplative.

I went to my first Anime convention in 2001, which was Anime Central. By this time, I was switching colleges, and was home for a short while before I went back to school at Northern. Maybe it was destiny, maybe it was fate. But since that convention, Anime and Cosplay are pretty much part of my life.

I started cosplaying the year afterwards in 2002 at Otakon, borrowing my friend's CardCaptor Sakura costume. We had joked that I wouldnt' fit into it, and after trying it on, her first comment was that "you look better in it than I do". Since then, my reputation proceeded me and many different events shined the spotlight on me. Later on, I started going on stage at the masquerade, toting that "I'm not gay" and telling jokes to the best of my ability.

The rest is history. I've been attending conventions, cosplaying and staffing for 5 years. I've also recently graduated from college and have been working a 9 to 5. I haven't been attending as many conventions as I was when I was attending college; however, I make sure to attend the larger ones to see my friends and fans alike.

I've grown from being the shy, anti-social type to a full blown social butterfly. I have a ton of friends all over the US and I am pretty much welcome wherever I go. It's been a long journey, and not without its ups and downs, but "CardCaptor Will" is pretty much here to stay. I hope to possibly do someting bigger than just being a fan favorite one of these days. But for now, I'm not going to quit my day job, and live the life of a young American in a capitalistic society. I try to spend time with my friends whenever I can, and most people know that I will give the shirt off my back to help them. I do believe in the pleasure to serve, which is why I love being behind the scenes at conventions as well as on stage in the spotlight.
